    Every counselling session should leave you with a feeling of optimism and peace knowing that you are heading in the right direction, toward the clarity and solutions you need.  The goal of counselling is to “feel better” about you, your future, and your past.  Regardless of the events that have transpired in your life;  you deserve to feel strong and confident in your decisions about “what comes next.”  
A solution focused approach to psychotherapy, enables you to process events in your life and  to focus on the best solutions for you. 
    With over 15 yrs. of experience as a clinical therapist; Ministry of Children & Youth, Canadian Forces mental health team and  Emergency Psychiatry, Cheryl incorporates Mindfulness, and evidence based CBT & DBT approaches in counselling. 
    Cheryl has taught at UVIC and Citizen’s Counselling Centre, and provides clinical supervision to counsellors, M. Ed., MSW., and BSW practicum students.

Trauma Recovery

Trauma can be attributed to childhood abandonment, abuse or neglect.  It can also arise from accidents, critical events including war or from first-responder vicarious traumatization and First Nations experience in Residential Schools.  Cheryl has specialized  in trauma recovery with extensive training and experience helping children, adults & soldiers, identify and recover from trauma & PTSD.  There can be peace.
